Boudoir is the French word for a woman’s bedroom so it makes sense that a boudoir photo shoot is typically thought of as a sexy photoshoot. Clients typically wear revealing outfits – lingerie, stockings, undergarments, dresses, jewelry, wigs, etc.
It doesn’t always have to be like that though! Personally, when I think of a boudoir shoot, I think of it as more of a self-confidence booster. While some women believe wearing sexy clothing helps them build confidence, it’s honestly more about what makes you feel good. Boudoir photography is all about embracing yourself, all your flaws, curves, and imperfections. Those tiny details in your body make you unique and irreplaceable.
Boudoir is not limited to slender women who look like they just stepped out of a magazine. Boudoir is for EVERY woman, in all shapes and sizes. Plus-size boudoir, petite boudoir, or whatever-size boudoir – it’s not all about the labels. I find joy in seeing each woman basking in her self-confidence with a natural glow that speaks “I am beautiful.”
So many times I hear from my curvier clients that they should hide their bodies. As your boudoir photographer, I am here to celebrate YOU in any size or shape while giving you the confidence to do nail that photoshoot! At T. Marie Creatives, size inclusivity is non-negotiable. We want you to not only look beautiful but feel beautiful in a way you’ve never experienced.
I know ‘once in a lifetime experience’ may sound appealing but that’s applicable for a maternity or bridal boudoir client. For plus size boudoir photoshoots, we give our clients a mindset with the line “You can be sexy any day.”
When you book a plus size boudoir photoshoot with us, you can experience all the glitz and glam that VS Angels’ and magazine models go through during a normal day. We may not have the VS wings) yet, but we can take you to cloud nine with our plus size boudoir photoshoot!
The first thing I do for every client is start a ‘secret’ Pinterest board for us to pull together all of their ideas in one spot. If you are familiar with Pinterest, AWESOME! If not, it’s essentially an app platform that allows you to search images and ‘pin’ them to your board.
You can search boudoir photography, women’s portraits, etc… and tell my clients to pin anything that speaks to them. It doesn’t really matter if they don’t think they could pull off the look. I want to see photos and ideas that spark your joy, passion, and interest because it helps me zero in on your sense of style and how you want to be portrayed. No picture is unrealistic or too far-fetched.
After about 20-30 pins, I will be able to get an idea of how you would like to be displayed in images. When we scroll through it, we’ll be able to see whether you like silhouettes, portrait style, dark & moody, bright & airy, black and white versus color, etc…
Ready. Set. Go. We have a place to start! Based on your mood board, I am able to suggest wardrobe ideas, set options, and playful accessories. The sky’s the limit! I can’t wait to find out what interests you and really looking forward to building your dream photoshoot.
Photography is not a necessity. You will survive without it. So why would you want to? Life is short and fast. really fast. So do the deed and get the exquisite photos of yourself now. Boudoir photography is an elegant and timeless investment to represent you and your legacy.
All of my boudoir sessions start exactly the same, finding out your goals for this shoot. It doesn’t matter what shape or size you are, your privacy and what you want from your session is the most important thing to me. On the day of your shoot, I will greet you personally with a smile, a glass of bubbly, and a helping hand to carry in all of your belongings. Inside the studio, our first step is getting you into hair and makeup with my amazing artists. They will be prepped and ready to makeover your desired look. It’s best to arrive with clean, dry hair and a fresh face. You’ll be nervous at first. It’s normal and totally fine. I’ve shot hundreds of sessions and have a strategy to help get you through these initial nerves.
While you are sipping and relaxing in hair and makeup, we will start to talk through the outfit options you brought with you. I also have some back-ups available in my client closet like silk and lace robes, bodysuits that range from L-3X, and a variety of body chains and fabrics that we can also play with.
Wardrobe is not my main focus for the way I shoot. Seriously, you are the piece of art, anything else is just complimentary. Don’t overthink this, I got you. This whole experience is about working with you, your body, and catching those beautiful images that you didn’t even know existed. I’m here to put your mind at ease and walk you through every pose from head to toe (facial expressions included!). And I always show you my camera shots just so you can see how amazing you look even before editing! It’s an instant confidence booster, and makes the rest of the session super smooth and fun.
After the session is over, I take you through each of the albums that we discussed in the consultation so you have some ideas for the ordering session. It’s always nice to see/feel the albums right after the shoot, see something tangible out of that model-for-a-day experience!
If you are looking for lace and cutouts, Fleur de Mal x Precious has bras that offer substantial support with intricate designs.
My favorite intimate labels that go above and beyond size large.
