Boudoir is the French word for a woman’s bedroom so it makes sense that a boudoir photo shoot is typically thought of as a sexy photoshoot. Clients typically wear revealing outfits – lingerie, stockings, undergarments, dresses, jewelry, wigs, etc. It doesn’t always have to be like that though!

Personally, when I think of a boudoir shoot, I think of it as more of a self-confidence booster. While some women believe wearing sexy clothing helps them build confidence, it’s honestly more about what makes you feel good. Many women choose to wear items of clothing that they wear every day – a tank or tee, a fitted blazer, a lace or silk robe, jeans, or maybe a leather jacket, that will remind them of that photoshoot every time they wear it. I was a mother first before a photographer. So, I’m the girl with the baby bump pics in front of her bathroom mirror… and oh my lawd just to paint the picture for you, it was the ugliest color of tan and brown, and I truthfully had every intention of changing it but never got around to it….and now I’m stuck with ugly bump pics in my cardboard color bathroom with some hairspray or face products in the background. I just know so many moms can relate to this.

My biggest regret in life is not doing a maternity portrait shoot with either of my children. Time flies and even though it can be a looooooooong 9 months (technically 10, but who’s counting), it’s actually minuscule when we look back on our life. So I encourage and tell all my friends, immortalize this moment now! Don’t let this moment pass, don’t be like me who is now looking back with such disappointment in myself for not recognizing the importance of the moment and how I will NEVER be able to get it back.

Preparing for Maternity Boudoir Photoshoot

Once you’ve booked a maternity boudoir photoshoot with T. Marie, here’s what you can expect on the day you step into our studio.

The first step is getting you into hair and makeup with my amazing artists. You’ll be nervous at first, it’s totally fine. I’ve shot hundreds of sessions and have a whole process to help get you through these initial nerves.

While you are sipping and relaxing in hair and makeup, we will start to talk through the outfit options you brought with you.

This whole experience is about working with you, your body, and catching those beautiful images that you didn’t even know existed.

I’m here to put your mind at ease and walk you through every pose from head to toe. And I always show you my camera shots just so you can see how amazing you look even before editing!

It’s an instant confidence booster, and the rest of the session is super smooth and fun.

After the session is over, I take you through each of the albums that we discussed in the consult so you have some ideas for the ordering session.
